Ellen Bick has been working in the counselling field since 1989. Throughout her career, Ellen has worked in various family service agencies, schools and clinics. While working as a family therapist, Ellen has had the pleasure of supervising a number of Counselling Interns. Ellen found this to be an enriching part of her practice, however she is not presently taking on new interns.
Prior to Ellen’s training in family therapy at Pacific Coast Family Therapy Training Association, she earned an M.A in Educational Psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, as well as an M.A. in School Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley.
Ellen hails from Montreal and has lived and worked in Jerusalem, Berkeley and New York City. Ellen has lived in Vancouver for many years, and is well established in the Vancouver therapeutic community. She has volunteered extensively in the Jewish community (Hadassah, Federation, former Board Member of Hillel) and is pleased to be using her counselling skills in an organization that does such important work.
Ellen’s practice in clinical therapy includes individual, couple and family counselling. Ellen uses a multi-generational approach to therapy, which she finds rewarding in framing clinical matters with her clients. She has considerable experience working with couples and children who are going through the process of separation and divorce. Ellen also has extensive experience in working with grief and loss.
A credo for Ellen is that counselling creates possibilities for people to look at their lives and effect changes that promote healthy relationships.
